This brown kurta is embellished with golden hand embroidered Kamdani work.from our ‘Exclusive Kamdani’ collection. Dating back to the Mughal times, this embroidery originated in the capital of Uttar Pradesh i.e. Lucknow. It involves twisting thin metallic threads to create patterns all over the fabric. Initially developed for the royalty that resided in the city, it utilised precious metals like gold and silver to weave into the fabric. Kamdani work is a time and labour-intensive craft which is why there are now only a handful of kaarigars/artisans left who are adept at this type of artistry. Each piece in our collection is a fine specimen of the technical know-how of these artisans.
The entire kurta has gorgeous Kamdani feathers and tikki work around the neckline and sleeve ends. The round neckline has a resham dori with handcrafted tassels. The Kamdani in this kurta is meticulously crafted by hand with focus being as much on the large leaved design and workmanship as on the quality of construction. The kurta is finished with shimmery gota lace on the sleeve ends and border.
The entire kurta is underlined with soft cotton. Pair this kurta with our matching Kota dupatta and Chanderi palazzo for a complete look. Available in standard and made-to measure sizes.
