A black kurta enriched with bold and striking Kamdani work from our ‘Exclusive Kamdani’ collection. Dating back to the Mughal times, this embroidery originated in the capital of Uttar Pradesh i.e. Lucknow. It involves twisting thin metallic threads to create patterns all over the fabric. Initially developed for the royalty that resided in the city, it utilised precious metals like gold and silver to weave into the fabric. Kamdani work is a time and labour-intensive craft which is why there are now only a handful of kaarigars/artisans left who are adept at this type of artistry. Each piece in our collection is a fine specimen of the technical know-how of these artisans.
This kurta handwoven in pure Chanderi features Kamdani pan boota motifs and tikki work descending from the neckline to give a luxurious feel. The timeless pairing of black and golden with the impeccably tailored patterns make this a perfect choice for festive occasions.
The notch shaped neckline is completed with golden potli buttons. The Kamdani pan boots motifs are strategically placed around the chest, sleeves and back for a highly regal look.
The entire kurta is underlined with soft cotton. Pair this kurta with our matching Kota dupatta and Chanderi palazzo for a complete look. Available in standard and made-to measure sizes.
