A stellar black Kamdani masterpiece Kurta from our ‘Exclusive Kamdani’ collection. Dating back to the Mughal times, this embroidery originated in the capital of Uttar Pradesh i.e. Lucknow. It involves twisting thin metallic threads to create patterns all over the fabric. Initially developed for the royalty that resided in the city, it utilised precious metals like gold and silver to weave into the fabric. Kamdani work is a time and labour-intensive craft which is why there are now only a handful of kaarigars/artisans left who are adept at this type of artistry. Each piece in our collection is a fine specimen of the technical know-how of these artisans.
The kurta is handwoven in pure Chanderi and features striking Kamdani work of various types. The neckline and sleeve ends are adorned with Dana work, while the front and sleeves are embellished with some delicate and some bold floral motifs. It has a round neck with a resham dori tie up and is the perfect outfit to stand out at an evening/night occasion.
The entire kurta is underlined with soft cotton. Pair this kurta with our matching Kota dupatta and Chanderi palazzo for a complete look. Available in standard and made-to measure sizes.
